On September 8 Sechura celebrates Our Lady of Light, its spiritual patroness, with a novena, vigil with fireworks donated by stewards, hen broth, procession and the traditional 'limosna de fiesta' with typical dishes. Her half-year feast is March 8.

La Virgen de la Luz es la patrona espiritual de la ciudad y provincia de Sechura. Su festividad del 8 de setiembre inicia con la novena y el velorio de vísperas con fuegos artificiales donados por los mayordomos y el tradicional caldo de gallina. El día central incluye procesión y la limosna de fiesta, donde se anuncian los nuevos mayordomos. También se celebra su medio año el 8 de marzo.
