La Chayo is one of the best-known picanterías in the Piura region, located at Jr. San Francisco 497, a few blocks from Catacaos' main square. Founded by doña Rosario Imaz Sosa, it keeps the tradition of wood-fired Piuran cuisine alive. Signature dishes include seco de chabelo, majado de yuca, seco de cabrito, carne aliñada, ronda criolla, mero ceviche, fish sudado and green tamales, all paired with the classic clarito (chicha de jora). Family atmosphere, friendly service and a must for anyone visiting Catacaos.
